Foreign retirees an untapped potential

AS THE elderly care and living community known as Eden on the Park (EOTP) in Kota Samarahan near Kuching readies to begin full operation, it recently welcomed a group of about 30 senior citizens from China on a month-long “healthy holiday programme”.

This appears to be a welcome and innovative exchange programme between EOTP and its Chinese counterpart, Sunrise Elderly Care group. In the words of Sunrise managing director Su Xiang: “We pride ourselves in providing high quality nursing home facility and services that help seniors and retirees live a full life. This programme will help position Sarawak and China as healthcare tourism destinations.”

“In addition, this will provide opportunities for the many Chinese people in Sarawak to visit their ancestral homelands in China through more exchange programmes in the near future,” Su further suggested.
