Local entrepreneurs should aim to solve a big problem and go global from day one, says Yip
From small business selling in-house electrical engineering design software in Ipoh to 42 countries worldwide in just 10 years is worthy of note. Radica Software Sdn Bhd, founded in 2005 by Thomas Yip and Woo Ah Kek, credits core product Electra with the start of its worldwide reach. The electrical CAD software was the result of a software program for internal use that Yip, a partner at a company doing automation systems integration, created in preparation for a large project the company aimed to secure. It did not get the project but the duo realised it was an amazing software and did not want it to go to waste.
