Focusing on natural cosmetics

Recent years have seen consumers becoming more aware of the ingredients and formulations of products they purchase and use, especially when it comes to skincare and beauty products.

Realising that there is an opportunity to tap into this growing market, Dr Siva Kumar Shanmugam established Orlins Venture (M) Sdn Bhd in October 2016.

“In Southeast Asia, both women and men are now more conscious about natural cosmetics, which is one of the niches that are currently booming."

“We set up Orlins Venture to promote natural cosmetics to Malaysians and the regional market,” he shares.

He says the Asean market for organic cosmetics was valued at US$40 bil in 2015 and notes that forecasts from 2016 to 2024 show that the market will grow by more than 50% to US$66 bil.

The marketing and distribution company owns sole right of distribution for several Thai brands, including De Leaf Thanaka, Carebeau and Dentamate, in Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Indonesia.
