Gobind should provide more clarity
FocusM | 29 Jun 2018 00:30
Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo announced recently that fixed broadband prices would be reduced by 25% by the end of this year. According to him, the announcement is in line with the Mandatory Standard on Access Pricing (MSAP).

The move by the minister is commendable as subscription costs for broadband access are relatively expensive for consumers in Malaysia.

However, Gobind needs to provide more clarity on what his ministry intends to do so as not to spook investors. Pakatan Harapan’s 14th General Election manifesto mentioned that prices of broadband will be reduced by 50% and the speed doubled. Now that it has won the election, will it keep its promise?
