The Dom Pérignon P2 2000.

Travelling all over the world to educate people on Dom Pérignon’s centuries-old history sounds like a huge task but someone has to do it. Just ask Pierre-Louis Araud, the brand ambassador of Dom Pérignon since 2011.

“It’s definitely a difficult job and there’s a lot of pressure. Plus, no one wants to volunteer to do it,” he says in jest.

Araud takes his job seriously. He has just arrived in Kuala Lumpur to host a few dining experiences in conjunction with the launch of Dom Pérignon P2 2000 and the Vintage 2009. “Few people know the story of Dom Pérignon, the Benedictine monk who was a pioneer in champagne craftsmanship, and we want to share his great vision with the rest of the world,” he says.

The Dom Pérignon P2 2000 is the second plenitude of the original Dom Pérignon 2000 Vintage. As the brand only releases vintage champagnes, meaning the bottles are made from a single year harvest, Araud explains that the 2000 Vintage, which was released in 2008, had reached its first harmony after eight years, and that the P2 2000 is a greater refinement of the champagne after a further nine years of maturation.
