FGV turmoil sparks hot seat speculation

The managerial turbulence at Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) is causing intense speculation over top leadership at the troubled plantation giant.

 

In a dramatic turn of events last week, group president and CEO Datuk Zakaria Arshad was forced to go on leave of absence due to alleged improprieties. He is suspended pending results of an internal investigation. Although he could return to the helm, the rumour mill is already buzzing over his potential successor.

 

A source says a leading candidate to take over from Zakaria is Datuk Khairil Anuar Aziz, who is the company’s chief operating officer of logistics and other sector.

 

“I would say he is in the frame for the top job. He is said to be close to chairman (Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad). There has been strong talk about it but nothing is certain yet. It all depends on the showdown between Isa and Zakaria and results of the probe. The CEO could still make a comeback,” says the source.
