Big off-market trades draw interest

The May 5-11 period saw several large blocks of shares traded off-market.

The top four trades that drew interest were: Plastrade Technology Bhd at 6.72% with 10.1 million shares traded at 36 sen apiece; Perak Transit Bhd at 4.81% with 55 million shares traded at 19.5 sen; Sentoria Group Bhd at 3.19% with 15.53 million shares traded at 73 sen; and Kanger International Bhd at 2.63% with 20.99 million shares traded at 23 sen.

Additionally, other large off-market trades involved SP Setia Bhd at 1.72% (with 49.16 miilion shares); Malayan Banking Bhd at 0.38% (with 38.5 million shares); Sime Darby Bhd at 0.18% (with 12.16 million shares), and Tenaga Nasional Bhd at 0.13% (with 7.14 million shares).

An off-market trade is one which is settled directly between two parties without the involvement of the clearing corporation.
