PRTASCO-WA: High gearing apt for leverage play

The new warrant of Protasco Bhd (PRTASCO-WA) made its debut on Bursa Malaysia on May 2. The  warrant was given free to shareholders as part of a bonus issue of shares and warrants undertaken by the company.

PRTASCO-WA traded between 15.5 sen  and 22 sen on its first trading day. The warrant then lost ground as market sentiment remained weak ahead of the general election on May 9. PRTASCO-WA ended trading on May 8 at 15 sen while the mother share closed at 74.5 sen.

Protasco group is involved in several business segments: Maintenance, construction, property development, engineering services, trading and manufacturing, and education.

Its maintenance division is the largest private road maintenance service provider in the country, maintaining over 10,000km of federal and state roads and over 15,000km of rural roads.
