Travelling for business is often tiring and sometimes stressful, so choosing the right hotel is essential to ease the burden. And if there is one hotel that ticks all the right boxes, it is Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel, one of the oldest international five-star hotels in Kuala Lumpur.

The hotel is currently undergoing a massive refurbishment with work on the West Wing recently completed. Here is where you will find the Renaissance Club Floors from level 23 to 27 where the rooms come with access to its exclusive club lounge equipped with all the conveniences to make your stay as a business traveller more pleasant.

For one, it promises to elevate your experience with attentive yet discreet service as well as the assurance of greater privacy.

Cosy dining area at the R Club Lounge

First impression

Gone is the old look, which was frankly a little tired and unappealing. The R Club Lounge on the 25th floor, for instance, now sports a spanking new look complete with contemporary furnishing, plush carpeting and custom blinds that filter the sunlight to a soft, cosy glow.

All guests of the Club Floors check in here, a fuss-free, breezy procedure that comes with a welcome drink of your preference, whether it is an invigorating shot of espresso, a soothing cup of Earl Grey, or refreshing fruit juices.

If you happen to arrive on an early flight, the hotel will endeavour to hand you the keys to your room as soon as you reach, subject to availability, of course. But if waiting is necessary, just relax in the lounge where refreshments are served all day long. If you need to catch up on work, walk a few steps to The Studio for greater privacy.

Walking into the lounge is like coming home to a warm hug. The hotel navigators always greet you by name and with a sincere smile.

“Our R Club Lounge is separated into The Lounge, The Dining area with its ample seating, The Loft that provides another space to chill and unwind, and The Studio with its adjacent meeting room for private discussions,” says Robert Frager, general manager of Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel.

“The R Club is basically a space that provides total privacy where guests can be effective in conducting their business in a relaxing environment.”

For added convenience, Marriott Rewards member can use the Marriott Mobile App available on Apple Store and Google Play. The app lets you browse for available rooms, make reservations and send any requests you may have to the hotel in advance. It also alerts you when your room is ready as well as email your hotel billing. Member can earn up to 250 Marriott reward points when booking or checking in at any Marriott hotel with the app.

The Club Deluxe room updated with a chic contemporary design

A room with a view

You are ushered to your room by a navigator, who will also help you with your luggage. He or she is your point of contact for all your queries and requests, including offering useful tips and recommendations about the city.

One of the first things that we notice about our Club Deluxe room is the great view of Kuala Lumpur. Looking around the 40 sq m space, we are impressed by the comfortably furnished room in neutral tones; you can’t help but feel right at home immediately.

The king-sized bed comes with the signature Marriott Plush Bedding. A day bed by the window is the perfect excuse to take a breather and enjoy the scene of the bustling city life below.

The reconfigured bathroom is a real delight. More spacious than the standard hotel bathroom, it is equipped with four-bay bathroom fixtures with a rain shower, a huge round mirror and a tub for a relaxing soak after a long day.

Bath amenities come in the form of Gin & Rosewater collection by Tokyo Milk, made exclusively for the hotel. The luxurious bath line is made with citrus zest, rosewood, mimosa and mandarin that leaves you feeling incredibly refreshed after a shower.

Other modern conveniences in the room include a 48-inch HD smart TV, a well-stocked mini bar and an alarm clock.

Seamless connectivity

As Mark Ellwood, contributing editor of Condé Nast Traveler magazine, once wrote: “Forget Michelin stars, it’s Mbps that matter.”

As such, the hotel has been working hard to stay on par with today’s tech needs with seamless internet connectivity throughout the property. Whether you are working in the club lounge, in your room or at a conference room, the internet connection here is fast and reliable.

R Club guests are given a complimentary two-hour use of the Club Level Boardroom to hold business discussions. Other complimentary services include pressing of two pieces of garments, daily newspaper delivery as well as maximum 10 pieces of printing and photocopy.

Eat well

When it is time to fill your tummy, the hotel offers plenty of delectable temptations. Pop into the club lounge for light breakfast and afternoon tea. Cocktail hours are between 5.50pm and 7.30pm with a decent selection of nosh. Late evening snacks are also served until midnight.

We highly recommend checking out Dynasty Restaurant for its signature dim sum (pork-free) by the award-winning Chef Kok Chee Kin. Hearty meals also await at TEMPTationS, the hotel’s all-day dining venue serving contemporary Asian and Western cuisines.

Frager reveals that there will be a new F&B outlet called Evolution & R Bar adjacent to the main lobby, which will complement the soon-to-be-renovated East Wing.
