Global on-demand logistics service provider Lalamove officially launches in Malaysia after its announcement to enter this market two months ago.

Its Country Director, Yong Sik Hoe said Malaysia is a thriving economy with high adoption of technology.

“We are confident that Lalamove will serve Malaysians, particularly the business community with the efficiency that they are looking for in this era of speed and connectivity,” he said.

“Adding that as the growth of e-commerce continues, the demand for delivery of the goods purchased is growing. Lalamove aims to transform the logistic landscape and launch its intuitive delivery app to gear up the Malaysian SMEs and the entire delivery ecosystem within Kuala Lumpur and beyond,” Sik said.

The distribution of goods via Lalamove delivery service are now calculated by minutes, not days. This is achieved by matching drivers with customers within seconds using the app.

“Local deliveries can be achieved within 1-hour and could infinitely allow business to scale rapidly without being constrained by logistics as well as huge operating expenses,” he emphasized.

Connecting businesses with the drivers or riders, the mobile app allows request for delivery services using various vehicles, including motorbike and car.

Soon, van and truck will also be available upon request to serve different users’ needs. After a month of testing in the Kuala Lumpur city, Lalamove has achieved some tremendous results with deliveries taking under 36 minutes for 5km or less, and an average of just 50 minutes for deliveries within 10km.

“In average, we record 300 orders delivered per day. We are now supporting more than 200 SME businesses with 1,800 plus registered drivers for KL ,” he said.

Lalamove leverages the power of the web, mobile app technology and the sharing economy to provide on-demand delivery services as the integrated technological delivery platform can instantly match both customers and drivers.

The Lalamove platform is built with real-time GPS tracking, 24/7 services as well as driver ratings to ensure customers have constant overview of their delivery. Their app also assists SMEs to achieve business efficiency pertaining to logistics and supply chain solutions by minimising processes and documentations.

Delivery is charged based on distance traveled, with price as low as RM5 for an immediate delivery. Entrepreneurs with many items to transport will rejoice to learn that delivery is not charged by weight.

This leads to reduction of overhead, helping businesses reduce over 70% of the delivery and operational cost while giving the businesses better control of their daily delivery needs.

“At the same time, we create more job opportunities where drivers or riders can earn extra income,” he said.

With presence in in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia and over 100 cities in China, serving 15 million customers and supporting over 2 million drivers, Sik said that Lalamove would be expanding to Johor and Penang, following by more cities across Malaysia.

“We plan to increase our reach and at the same time, reduce our delivery time for Malaysian businesses. After all, time and tide waits for no man,” Sik concluded.
