Bermaz Auto expects the newly launched Mazda CX-5 SUV to hit monthly sales of 500 to 600 units

Mazda will be holding a nationwide festive carnival from Dec 9 till month-end, with exclusive deals for buyers of its range of vehicles.

Demo units for the Mazda2 and Mazda CX-5 will be available, with prices starting from RM65,000 and RM110,000, respectively. There will also be lucky dips and gifts upon signing up for any Mazda vehicle.

Purchasers of Mazda cars will enjoy five years/100,000km manufacturing warranty and three years/60,000km free maintenance. The three-year free scheduled maintenance means that customers will not need to pay for anything including labour, parts, and lubricants.

Prima Merdu Sdn Bhd is the sole and exclusive importer of Mazda vehicles, while Bermaz Motor Sdn Bhd, listed under Bermaz Auto Bhd (formerly known as Berjaya Auto Bhd), is the exclusive local distributor for Mazda vehicles.

Bermaz Auto expects the launch of the new Mazda CX-5 SUV (sport utility vehicle) to hit monthly sales of 500 to 600 units. The SUV is reported to contribute to about half of Bermaz Auto’s sales.

The company itself is expected to be a key beneficiary of the ringgit’s strength against the yen as Bermaz’s imports are 100% exposed to the latter.

Bermaz is exposed to the yen via CBU (completely-built-up) imports, whereas CKD (completely-knocked-down) units, i.e. the CX5 and Mazda 3 models, are purchased at a fixed ringgit price from 30%-owned Mazda Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the importer and assembler of Mazda CKDs.
