Sime Darby Property Bhd has completed the handover of 184 affordable residential and 108 commercial units in its Taman Pasir Putih township under the Johor Affordable Housing Programme (RMMJ).

Launched in October 2014, the double-storey homes and single-story shop lots incorporate space-maximising design and quality materials.

The project follows the 540 low-cost homes delivered in Taman Pasir Putih since 1997 under Sime UEP Properties Bhd.

“The RMMJ scheme was launched by the Johor government with the objective to deliver a total of 60,000 units by 2020,” says Johor State Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Md Jais Sarday.

“The state government, which aims to complete 5,490 affordable housing units by the end of this year, also plans to launch a rent-to-own housing scheme soon.”

A 273ha township, Taman Pasir Putih was developed on land acquired by the Sime Darby Group in 1984.

It is connected to Johor Bahru and parts of Iskandar Malaysia via the Pasir Gudang and Coastal highways.
