Giftee aims to expand footprint in Asia

After a successful foray into the Malaysian market, a Japan based e-gift service startup, giftee Inc, is looking at “invading” the rest of Southeast Asia.

This is to be spearheaded by its local subsidiary, Giftee Malaysia Sdn Bhd, which plans to penetrate the Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam markets by year-end.

“Based on our research, we see huge potential in an emerging market for goods and services. If you can be the first to offer consumers something new, you may acquire a significant share of the market,” its CEO Mutsumi Ota tells FocusM.

He points out that these countries are similar to Malaysia; a fast growing number of people who are actively engaged in social media and networking services.
