Ensure proper safeguards are in place

THE frustrations of CIMB Bank customers over the bank’s recent downtime is understandable given the inconvenience caused and potential loss of business as its online credit card system that faced some “technical issues” recently.

While technical glitches are acceptable these days, it is important to ensure the robustness of the system is not compromised as we move towards a cashless society.

Surely, for the bank to experience two technical problems in a short span of time does not exactly give confidence on the reliability of its system. The technical glitch on Sept 4 is the second time in a week that similar problems have surfaced. On Aug 26, CIMB announced via its social media platform that it was experiencing technical issues with CIMB Clicks and the portal was back to normal on Aug 28.
