Possible insider leaks prior to YTL-Lafarge deal?
FocusM | 10 May 2019 00:30
The rise in the share prices of YTL Corp Bhd and Lafarge Malaysia Bhd (LMB) prior to their mega deal announcement may not bear scrutiny.

On May 2, YTL Corp offerred to purchase a 51% stake in LMB for RM1.625 bil cash. Following that, YTL Corp will make a mandatory offer for the rest of the LMB shares it does not own. The purchase price effectively values Lafarge at RM3.75 per share. The counter closed at RM3.72 on May 2.

But what is interesting is that the share price of LMB started moving upwards before the deal was announced. On April 18, it was trading at just RM2.30 but by April 30, it had risen significantly to RM3.30.
