Tenaga’s billing error, explanation unacceptable
FocusM | 31 May 2019 00:30
Tenaga Nasional Bhd’s feeble response to irate consumers who complained of a sudden spike in their electricity bills is unacceptable.

Consumers whose monthly bill usually came up to RM80 were said to have been issued bills for RM200, a 150% increase! And yet the national utility company had failed to detect the obvious anomaly.

According to Tenaga, the mistake was due to an error in the smart meter installation, replacing the older meters. In its apology, Tenaga says it will refund excess payments made by customers if it is proven that they have been billed excessively. What a lame excuse!
