Investing has always been about getting better returns from one’s portfolio. But of late, investments based on environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors is becoming an important aspect for institutional investors.

ESG investing is a term used by investors today to distinguish companies that have sustainable business practices and are socially responsible.

Under the environmental criteria, companies should have good track record such as having good toxic waste disposal methods.
