How to save while working overseas

The thought of working overseas has probably crossed your mind before.

The lure of foreign shores can be hard to resist. Malaysians choose to work in Singapore due to the favourable exchange rate, so much so they don’t mind commuting from Johor Baru every day. After all, working in the island-republic can earn them salaries of around three times the wages in Johor.

Money is not the only motivator. There is the perception that companies value internationally experienced employees. Other reasons include freedom to be independent and to travel.

About 83% of Malaysians in their early 30s showed interest in working in another country, based on a study by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in 2017.
