The aerospace industry is expected to bring in RM55.2 bil in revenue by 2030 and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) believes the nation is well-positioned to become not only Southeast Asia’s but also the Asia-Pacific’s maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) destination of choice.

“Many do not know that we are one of the top aerospace countries in Southeast Asia in terms of value and supply chain as well as the presence of players,” says MAHB group CEO Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin.

“We are one of only two countries in the Asia-Pacific, the other being China, that sees a significant Airbus presence.

“What Airbus does here is MRO. A lot of what we are working towards and have built so far are towards the MRO ecosystem.

“We are undertaking the Subang regeneration project where we will ensure that Malaysia, especially Subang and KL International Airport (KLIA) become the Asia-Pacific’s leading MRO hub.
