Duopharma invests US$500,000 in a local digital therapeutics company

IN today’s world when healthcare is of the utmost importance, innovators of the industry stand to gain from introducing new and revolutionary healthcare products and services into the mix.

This was the case with Naluri Hidup Sdn Bhd, a local pioneer in digital therapeutics that recently received investments from leading pharmaceutical company in Malaysia, Duopharma Biotech Bhd at US$500,000 (via a Series A funding round) to expand its smart digital integrated health applications.

This follows an initial investment of US$250,000 also by Duopharma Biotech via a Simple Agreement for Future Equity (SAFE) that was made in April 2020, which was for the development of a digital holistic healthcare application.

Additionally, Duopharma Biotech will also be able to deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions using Naluri’s digital therapeutics solutions that are designed to help manage chronic disease risks through structured multidisciplinary behavioural and psychological coaching programmes.

In fact, effective use of holistic therapeutics can double the healthcare effectiveness compared to a purely pharmacotherapeutic approach that only focuses on medication.

It is also a method that could be four times more cost-efficient and increase accessibility to clinicians and other health and fitness experts online as well.

According to Duopharma Biotech Group managing director Leonard Ariff Abdul Shatar, the smart application of digital technologies to enhance the effectiveness of healthcare is one of the group’s strategic pillars.

“Indeed, the global coronavirus pandemic has compounded the vital need for concerted cooperative initiatives to promote better health for all. And so, we are proud to be part of this latest milestone to empower homegrown health technologies,” he said.

Moving ahead, Duopharma Biotech aims to accelerate the use of data science, predictive algorithms, device connectivity and disease monitoring to deliver multiple clinically-significant health outcomes to help patients to get healthier.

Currently, the group is already developing various use cases by utilising Naluri’s proprietary technology platform. – June 9, 2021
