Malaysia and Japan sign second bilateral swap agreement

BANK Negara Malaysia today signed second bilateral swap agreement (BSA) with the Bank of Japan, which acted as an agent of the Minister of Finance of Japan, Bank Negara said in a press statement.

The BSA enables both authorities to swap their local currencies, Japanese Yen and Malaysian Ringgit respectively, for US Dollar. The arrangement will provide up to US$3 bil (RM12.45 bil) for both countries.

The agreement reflects the continued bilateral financial cooperation between Japan and Malaysia that will contribute to the stability of financial markets.

It would also further strengthen the growing economic and trade ties between the two countries. – Sept 18, 2020
