Automating employee healthcare management with HealthMetrics

AS Malaysia battles the third wave of COVID-19 cases spiking, employers would have to think of new methods to ensure the safety of the employees.

Whether they are working from home or are given permission to continue making trips to the office, workers are still susceptible to a variety of health conditions.

For this exact reason, a solution like the cloud healthcare platform HealthMetrics is very much needed, especially in a time where health and contactless technology is a priority among the public.

Seeing the potential of the app in the current climate, FocusM had an exclusive email interview with its CEO Alvin Yuan.

He revealed that the ecosystem connects corporate administrators from over 1,000 organisations, more than 180,000 employees and over 3,000 healthcare providers nationwide.

Being a platform that provides cashless clinic visits to the users, HealthMetrics provide the users a geolocation map that shows the nearest healthcare provides, opening times of clinics healthcare panel addresses with GPS capabilities and many more. This allow the users to plan their visits more efficiently at their fingertips.

With the app, employees would receive cashless treatments for items covered by corporates configured via the administration portal itself.

“Not only is the process completely digitalised and has become significantly more efficient, it also creates an emphasis on employee self-service (ESS) where employees do not need to rely on their HR department or Managers to understand how they can avail their benefits,” said Yuan.

“Further to that, employees do not need to fork out their own cash to pay for the treatments only to go through a cumbersome reimbursement process later. Corporate administrators on the other hand enjoys a seamless process, real-time updates, automated claims processing and data analytics/reporting all within the platform,” he added.

Aside from that, HealthMetrics have also partnered with telemedicine platforms to extend the coverage of cashless treatments by enabling teleconsultations without needing to unnecessarily visit a clinic & getting exposed to contact risks.

Users would also be able to avoid unnecessary exposure by getting digital medical certifications (MCs) that would be issued directly through the platform.

On that, Yuan said: “We are seeing digital MCs being used & accepted by our corporate clients as a stronger and more secure form of MC validation to deter or identify potential fake MCs. Besides providing companies with all the relevant information, our digital MCs also has a digital timestamp that is non-alterable and automatically generated.”

On the corporate side, administrators can configure to whom the digital MCs would be automatically delivered to be it to human resources, line managers or head of departments. That way, line managers gets an instant notification of the MCs rather than relying on employees to inform them.

“We advise for more companies to evaluate their current workflows and processes by factoring the time spent to ensure proper record keeping and generating reports. They need to digitalise their processes. And what better to do it other than utilising a platform that could automatically collect and store information for their perusal!” he opined. – Dec 2, 2020
