In the heart of the city

Here’s how you can escape to an oasis of peace, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Enter a Westin hotel, and you’ll immediately notice how good it feels.

That’s because the brand’s innovative programmes and instinctive service aims to transform the guest’s stay into a revitalising experience. At Westin, each of its signature offerings has been designed with a better you in mind.

One can indulge in Westin’s extensive menu with options to tempt every palate, including its exclusive Eat Well Menu dishes. After a hearty meal, one can experience restorative sleep in its world-renowned Heavenly Bed which offers lush sheets and patented pillow-top mattress.

Jacuzzi in suite

Hankering for a getaway, I checked into The Westin Kuala Lumpur over one weekend. This is how I discovered an oasis of peace, right in the heart of the city. Located on the pulsating streets of Jalan Bukit Bintang, The Westin’s ideal location puts the capital’s best shopping malls, entertainment and local attractions at your doorstep.

Varied categories of rooms are offered, from Deluxe Room (measuring 42sqm) to One Bedroom Executive Residence. The latter is 80sqm serviced apartment with well-equipped kitchen, private balcony, study corner and bedroom complete with the signature Heavenly Bed.
Meanwhile, the spacious Westin Suite which measures 75sqm, is where you can unwind after a busy day. Guests can relax at the Executive Club Lounge, where you can have high-speed Internet access on a complimentary basis. One can also reward oneself with a deep soaking bath in its luxurious bathroom with marble flooring for that elegant touch.

The Presidential Suite is an 114sqm luxury suite, tucked away on the highest floor, with its breath taking view of the city skyline.

There’s also the Chairman Suite, a spectacular 300sqm bi-level penthouse suite on the 34th and 35th floor of the hotel. The master bedroom, spacious yet cosy, provides the necessary comforts to make you feel at home with subtle details for that luxurious touch. Nestled against the window is a jacuzzi bath where romantic views of the city can be enjoyed in complete privacy.

The hotel also offers a total of 20 meeting rooms and conference facilities that provide the ideal location for events and special occasions. All meeting rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art audio visual equipment and broadband facilities with seating capacities that range from 600 theatre style seating to 10 persons boardroom seating.

Five Sen5es

Where dining is concerned, guests can dine at any of the hotel’s five restaurants: Five Sen5es, Prego, The Living Room, Splash or 443 Coffee & Bar Lounge.

My favourite is Prego, where one can enjoy a lively show kitchen while feasting on rustic Italian cuisine, including gourmet wood fired pizzas and pasta in a relaxed setting.

A close second is Five Sen5es, which features authentic Chinese cuisine and a wide array of dim sum. From the interior of the restaurant to the “open wok kitchen” concept, right through to its five private dining rooms, Five Sen5es is a reflection of a modern day culinary adventure.

At the end of the day, if you’re still dreaming of serene surroundings and an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, you can opt for Splash. It is the perfect place to start your day on a sweet note or to just simply unwind your cares away, whilst having a leisurely snack, casual lunch or an intimate dinner for two under the stars.

After a hearty meal, guests can burn off their calories at the hotel’s fully-equipped gym.

The WestinWorkout comprises state-of-the-art equipment complete with a sauna to relax in. The gym overlooks the city skyline with a great view of Kuala Lumpur, and is open to guests 24 hours access. So, whether you want a thorough cardio workout or just simple stretches, you know where to go!
