MDEC urges startups to leverage on local digital hubs

THE Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) is urging startups affected by the Covid-19 pandemic to take up offers from Malaysia Digital Hub operators to address daily business operation challenges.

“Going digital is no longer a corporate mantra but part of our daily lifestyle, especially from contactless payment transactions to e-learning in schools, digital ID at dwellings, remote working solutions, and all these have become instrumental in transforming our societies and social norms.

“Looking at these vast opportunities, MDEC is steadfast in its support of the entrepreneurial ecosystem by digitally empowering Malaysian businesses while supporting the country’s economic recovery,” said MDEC Global Growth Acceleration division vice president Gopi Ganesalingam.

Malaysia Digital Hubs are an extension of the MSC Malaysia Cybercentre that were created for startups and digitally-powered businesses. In total, there are seven certified hubs which provide assistance to startups such as mentorship, funding opportunities, and accelerator programmes.

Currently, MDEC is in partnership with the seven digital hubs to offer daily digital hub passes that enable tech entrepreneurs who are not already existing tenants of participating co-working spaces to utilise the facilities offered. – Aug 13, 2020
