For a limited time only, Nobu Kuala Lumpur’s Omasake offers a blend of Japanese and French cultures.

The latest Omasake offering from Nobu Kuala Lumpur blends Japanese and French cultures together in the form of sake and wine. To officiate its ‘Sake & Wine Pairing Omakase’, the Head of Economic Section of the Japanese Embassy in Malaysia, Hideto Nakajima and Trade Advisor in charge of Wines and Spirits of the French Embassy Trade Commission, Jun Lim were invited, alongside media members.

Much like its name would suggest, each of the seven courses are coupled with Nobu Kuala Lumpur’s finest selections of sake or wine. Each course is carefully paired by executive chef Philip Leong and the Nobu kitchen team to uncover different notes and flavours that can’t be experienced anywhere else.

“At Nobu, we are all about bringing out the best flavours each dish has to offer. For instance, we paired the Hokusetsu Nobu Daiginjo TK40 with sushi because it’s a creamy sake that complements the texture and taste of the selection. Same goes with the final course where we paired the dessert with Plum Wine because of its sweet and sour notes that would bring a refreshing taste. This pairing of Omakase is a unique journey that treats your palate to flavours you’ve never experienced before,” enthused Leong.

This truly unique culinary journey begins with succulent cuts of Sashimi ‘Moriawase’ comprising Toro Daikon, Kampachi Jalapeno and Scallop Foie Gras paired with Mumm Grand Cordon Brut, Champagne. This is followed by a selection of decadent Chu Toro, Tai, Uni and an Ika Sushi Cup paired with delicate sake, Hokusetsu Nobu Daiginjo TK40 ‘The Premium Sake’.

The menu only gets better with the other delectable dishes served; Aburi Salmon with Kohlrabi Salad paired with Rene Mure Riesling Signature; Alaskan King Crab Ginger Salsa that has rich and distinctive flavours paired with Joseph Drouhin St. Veran; the finest cut of Umami Wagyu paired with Alamos Seleccion, Malbec; Tomato Kombu Consume macerated in vinegar and served with somen; and finally Espresso Chocolate Mousse complemented by a sweet Hokusetsu Umeshu, Plum Wine.
