A big bike enthusiast is always up for a great ride adventure. And for a smooth journey, safety plays a vital role.
In May, Tissot organised the “Ride To Live 2.0” in collaboration with Auto Bavaria and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) to raise awareness about motorcycle safety.
With the participation of 180 bikes – specially invited BMW Motorrad owners – the 64km journey was flagged of from Bukit Jalil National Stadium. The bikes were then off to Rimba Valley MotorCampsite in Janda Baik, Pahang.
Just like the previous edition, organisers once again assisted by deploying a total of 30 personnel from the Kuala Lumpur traffic district’s motorcade division to serve as traffic marshals for the journey.
At the starting point, the participants were treated to a series of activities such as pre-ride warm-up exercise and a briefing on convoy riding etiquette conducted by PDRM officers.
The motorcade took around one hour or less for the riders. Upon arrival at the Rimba Valley Motor Campsite, participants were given a live riding demonstration, along with a series of safety briefing sessions featuring certified BMW Motorrad instructor Faizal Sukree, PDRM inspector Ummul Hidayah and first aid consultant Shuhaimi Marche.
Tissot also took the opportunity to showcase the latest timepieces from its 2019 collection, including a presentation on the Tissot Touch experience by Dato’ Captain Nik Huzlan and a lifestyle pop-up store with exclusive offers on Tissot products.
“As May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness month, ‘Ride To Live 2.0′ serves as an opportunity platform to educate the public and bring attention to the dangers and vulnerabilities that motorcyclists face on the road, particularly the journey home during the festive season,” said Kim Lim, Vice President of Tissot Malaysia.
“We are proud to be partnering with Auto Bavaria and PDRM for ‘Ride To Live 2.0’ to promote the importance of safe riding practices and continued road safety education. We hope to be part of this event again next year,” she added.
After fresh coconut drinks and a lunch buffet spread, Rimba Valley’s renowned trails made for a fun adventure. The bumpy ride was led by Rimba Raid CEO and well-known local motorcycling figurehead Nik Huzlan.
The thrills didn’t stop there as the heavy late afternoon rain accompanied us during our trip back home. Despite that, the convoy made the return journey to the starting point and reached safely, and on time.
