Smooth criminal in our midst

This new restaurant offers everything from Asian comfort fare to American soul food.

The newest caper by the bakers and baristas behind Breakfast Thieves promises not only Melbourne-inspired cafe favourites but everything from Asian comfort fare to American soul food.

Here’s introducing Snitch by The Thieves, located at The Gardens. Patrons can expect to be whisked away by everything the space has to offer: its menu, entertainment, and ambience.

Fusion rules the menu as it offers Aussie flavours along with Malaysian and European favourites and everything in between. Its extensive menu ranges from morning breakfasts to late brunch outs and scrumptious dinner options to sinful desserts.

Quack Me Up

Calorie-counting should be left at the door, but those looking for lighter bites may get the vegetarian options.

Snitch’s open space offers indoor and alfresco seating. Its interior is a warm and inviting environment to relax after a long day. But if you’re in the mood to really le loose, a sports bar and a place to belt out your favourite tunes are hidden somewhere on the premises.

It retains Breakfast Thieves’ flair for all-day breakfasts, spanning corn cakes with pineapple salsa and hummus to potato hash with beetroot citrus-cured salmon, and savoury crepes with halloumi cheese.

Don’t miss out on its ever-popular French Toast (lemon curd, honey mascarpone, chocolate soil and rose apples with cinnamon). Other highlights include back-tobasics Brekkie Board (fried eggs with chipolata sausages, cheese herbed toast and avocado) and Vego Croque (baked sandwich layered with mushrooms and asparagus).

From left: Summer paradise, Crumbly berry, Yellow bee and Virgin tiramisu (I’m not a cake)

Where American food is concerned, one can opt for Philly cheese steaks and Southern-fried chicken burgers. There is also brown-rice bowl, which includes salted egg chicken and soy-glazed salmon.

Snitch’s repertoire is bolstered by a sturdy selection of Malaysian and East Asian staples; our favourite is the Black Pepper Beef Udon. Other Asian favourites are Mee Jawa with sweet potatoes, curry laksa, congee with salted duck egg and wok-fried bee hoon with kam heong clams.

So, whether it’s friends having a chat over brunch, businesses hashing out details during lunch, families gathering for a special occasion or a coffee enthusiast getting his daily fix, Snitch by The Thieves seems to be the place for everyone and every occasion. Talk about a smooth criminal!
