The way he made us feel

The romance of 90s love songs was relieved at Ronan Keating’s concert in Genting.

A sense of nostalgia filled the Arena of Stars at Resorts World Genting (RWG) as Ronan Keating appeared on stage 15 years later, and this time on Valentine’s Day. The Irish heartthrob, 42, kicked off the concert with Loving Each Day, which was from his album Ronan.

The crowd continued to cheer as he performed classics such as The Way You Make Me Feel, If Tomorrow Never Comes and Words. Keating credited his success to Boyzone whom he had an amazing 26 years with and were lucky to sing with music legends including Italian operatic tenor Luciana Pavarotti. And with that said, popular Boyzone songs such as All That I Need, Father and Son and Baby Can I Hold You were sung.

As Keating’s solo career flourished, so did his collaborations. His seventh studio album called Duet featured international artists such as Cat Stevens, Lulu, LeAnn Rimes, and Elton John to name a few.

According to Keating, it was a very special night, being Valentine’s Day and something he and his members don’t usually do, an acoustic setup. Performing for almost 20 years together, he introduced Bodhran on whistle, keys and vocals James McNally, percussionist and drumming and backing vocals Liam Bradley, and guitar and vocals Gregory Bone.

One of the many anticipated songs – When You Say Nothing At All – had fans whipping their phones out and singing along. As Keating started singing Picture of You, it was only right for him to go into the crowd for fans to take pictures with him. One even gave him a bouquet of roses that he later took up on stage.

As the night came to an end, fans were treated to the star’s new single called One of A Kind, which is a duet with Emeli Sandé. This is from his new album titled Twenty Twenty, set to be released this May. It was the singer’s first time performing One of A Kind to a live audience.

Of his experiences in Genting, Keating said: “The thing that stands out from my last visit at RWG was the clouds that came into the hotel reception on the morning we left, as it’s so high up there. It was the coolest thing to see!”
