With a celebrity yoga teacher on board, The Edison George Town is all about promoting wellness.

Since re-opening its doors in July 2016, The Edison George Town continues to redefine Penang’s boutique hotel experience. Recently, the hotel hosted its very first “Yoga In The Tropics” featuring British-Thai celebrity Tiffany Soi as the teacher.

How did this wellness programme come about?

“It was a collaborative decision of the Edison Hotels. In line with offering wellness into experiential travel, we thought it’d be unique to work with a professional to tailor a wellness weekend stay,” explained Rina Teoh, one of the founders of The Edison Hotels and the Executive Director of The Edison George Town.

Teoh added that Soi was a natural choice as she had stayed and visited The Edison numerous times. “She was familiar to us from a guest stand point, so it bloomed into a collaborative effort on wellness.”

Overall, participants of the inaugural programme had positive feedback. “Most of them liked the intimate setting. This encouraged our guests to ask certain questions about living well or exercising better which they wouldn’t have asked if this was in a much larger setting,” enthused Teoh.

On other exciting projects planned by the hotel, Teoh said: “We are working on a few other programmes which centre on promoting Penang and George Town, unique to the destination we are in. These will be in keeping with the ethos of our brand.”
