AirAsia in talks to sell 10% stake, says report

AirAsia Group Bhd is in talks to sell 10% of its shares to South Korea’s SK Corp, reports The Star.

Sources told the business publication that the stake sale will take place through a private placement of new AirAsia shares at RM1 a share. If the deal goes through, the placement of new shares will raise around RM334.2 mil.

AirAsia does not need to seek a fresh round of approvals from its shareholders for the potential private placement as it had already been approved during the group’s annual general meeting in June last year.

SK Corp is South Korea’s third largest conglomerate which deals in the chemical, petroleum, energy and telecommunications industries. – June 4, 2020
