ASTRO Malaysia Holdings Bhd has appointed Euan Smith (pic) as CEO TV and group COO effective April 1, 2020.
Smith is an experienced media and entertainment executive who has held senior roles in Sky UK, Sky Germany, Fox and most recently in Foxtel.
“We are pleased to welcome Euan on board. He comes with global Pay TV experience and will be a valuable addition to the team. He has a proven track record as a transformation specialist and we look forward to working with him to accelerate our goals,” group CEO Henry Tan said in a statement on Feb 12.
Trained at University of Birmingham (Mechanical Engineering) and Harvard Business School, Euan is an established media executive with a skillset spanning both Business and Technology. He brings a wealth of experience in media operations and business transformation. During his career he has led a step-change in technology, operations and customer service playing a vital role in the turnaround of Sky Germany and Foxtel.
Astro said this appointment is part of its business and people transformation plan in view of the ongoing changes in the media and entertainment industry.
“In the past year, Astro has put several strategies which have included differentiated services such as broadband and OTTs (over-the-top) and enhanced customer experience via the new interface and the Ultra Box.
