THE Health Ministry (MOH) has reported 1,745 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, a slight rise from the number of infections reported yesterday.
Since the start of the pandemic, Malaysia has now seen 305,880 COVID-19 infections and 280,707 recoveries (recovery rate 91.8%).
“Unfortunately, seven people have lost their lives to the virus, bringing the total number of fatalities to 1,148,” Health Ministry’s director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement.
He also noted that 1,743 cases were local transmissions while the rest are imported infections. In addition, out of 1,743 locally transmitted cases, 59.5% or 1,037 of them were locals and 706 were foreigners.
Currently, there are 24,025 active COVID-19 cases nationwide, of which 195 COVID-19 patients are in intensive care unit (ICU) with 95 requiring ventilator support.
Selangor continues to record the highest number of cases with 640 infections, followed by Johor (376) and Sarawak (139).
On a related matter, Noor Hisham announced that his ministry has detected eleven new clusters in the country with nine of them are workplace related, while the rest involves community and high-risk group transmissions. – March 3, 2021
