COVID-19: Cases soar as apathy kicks in, Perak records the highest tally

NEW COVID-19 cases are back in the uptrend as the Health Ministry (MOH) recorded 1,638 new infections as of 12pm today, with the total number of those infected now at 349,610.

As for recovery, the MOH said that a total of 1,449 people have recovered to date, bringing the tally to 333,892.

“However, three people died today, bringing the death toll to 1,286,” said MOH director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, in a tweet.

All who perished were locals.

“A total of 167 people are receiving treatment at the intensive-care unit (ICU), with another 81 in need of ventilation support,” he added.

Perak recorded the highest number of infection (494), followed by Selangor (352) and Sarawak (290). – April 3, 2021.
