COVID-19: CMCO in KL, JB, Selangor, Sabah extended by two weeks

THE Health Ministry has reported 1,594 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths today.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 1,181 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 85,592.

In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 106,690.

All the three deaths involved Malaysians – a 62-year-old woman and a 90-year-old man from Selangor, and a 62-year-old man from Sabah. All three had pre-existing conditions.

Selangor continued to record the highest number of cases with 697 infections, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 194 and Johor with 191.

Noor Hisham said 593 of the cases in Selangor came from close-contact screenings carried out on the field and existing clusters.

On a related matter, the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) for Kuala Lumpur, Johor Baru, Batu Pahat and the whole of Selangor and Sabah has been extended by two weeks to Jan 14.

The CMCO in the five locations was set to expire on Dec 31. – Dec 28, 2020
