Health site editor to be questioned under OSA

HEALTH news site editor-in-chief Boo Su-Lyn has been summoned to give a statement at the Putrajaya district police headquarters today at 2pm.

This is related to her articles on alleged declassified findings of an independent inquiry committee on the 2016 fire at Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) in Johor Bahru. Six patients died as a result of the fire.

According to the health news site CodeBlue, the police investigation on Boo is being conducted under the Penal Code and Official Secrets Act.

“The articles on the HSA fire investigation were written as a matter of public interest, especially on the issue of fire safety of our healthcare facilities.

“This police investigation into the articles reporting on the declassified findings of the inquiry committee is a distraction from the disconcerting points highlighted in the report,” it said in a statement today.

CodeBlue, in the past few months, has published a series of articles on the fire investigation.

The independent investigation by a seven-member committee led by former Court of Appeal judge Mohd Hishamudin Yunus produced a 225-page report.

Hishamudin is also being questioned by police in relation to the fire investigation articles.

Then health minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said that the report would be made public on Oct 30 last year, but there was no official statement after that.

CodeBlue claimed that Dzulkefly had said the report was declassified on Feb 24 this year.

FocusM is trying to get a response from Dzulkefly. – June 26, 2020
