Ismail: CMCO to be lifted, except Selangor, KL and Sabah

DUE to economic pressures, the Government will only extend the conditional movement control order (CMCO) in several parts of Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Sabah for another 14 days, from Dec 7 to Dec 20.

However, the CMCO in Perak, Kelantan, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Johor and Putrajaya will be lifted, effective midnight tomorrow, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, at a press conference

“If we extend the blanket CMCO, the country could lose up to RM300 mil daily, in terms of gross domestic product (GDP),” he said.

The details are as the following:

  • Selangor: CMCO extended to Dec 20, except for Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor.
  • Kuala Lumpur: CMCO extended to Dec 20.
  • Putrajaya: CMCO to be lifted.
  • Negeri Sembilan: CMCO to be lifted, except for Seremban and Port Dickson.
  • Sabah: CMCO extended to Dec 20.
  • Labuan: CMCO to be lifted
  • Penang: CMCO to be lifted except in Mukim 12 Barat Daya and Mukim 13 Timur Laut
  • Perak: CMCO to be lifted except for Kinta district and Mukim Teja, Kampar, and Mukim Changkat Jong, Hilir Perak
  • Kelantan: CMCO to be lifted except in Kota Bharu, Machang, Tanah Merah, and Pasir Mas districts.
  • Johor: CMCO for Johor Bahru, Batu Pahat, Kulai, Kota Tinggi until Dec 20, except for Mersing.

Terengganu, Pahang, Kedah, Perlis, Malacca and Sarawak currently has no need for a CMCO.

Ismail Sabri also said the Government would impose the enhanced movement control order in areas where the COVID-19 cases are high.

On related matter, Ismail Sabri said the Government that the three person per vehicle rule will be lifted as well.

“The limit will be based on the vehicle’s seating capacity. The police have also been instructed to focus on monitoring standard operating procedure compliance (SOP) from now on,” said the Bera MP. – Dec 5, 2020
