Numbers of new COVID-19 cases slowly improving

THERE has been a slow-but-steady increase of new COVID-19 cases since the new round of the movement control order (MCO 3.0) came into effect.

Today the country recorded 6,239 new cases. Although the number is still high, it is still a slight improvement to the 8,000 mark before MCO 3.0 was enforced.

However, the virus is still claiming a high number of lives, with today standing at 75 deaths (3,611).

A total of 905 patients are now admitted to the intensive care units, with 453 of them in need of ventilation support.

On the brighter side of things, there were 7,386 patients being discharged today, bringing the total number of recoveries to 548,705. – Jun 9, 2021
