Perak almost fully used its 2019 development allocation – MB

IPOH: Perak spent 90% of last year’s development allocation, giving the lie to talk that the state government’s financial performance was due to its move to reduce spending, especially on development expenditure, the menteri besar said today.

“Such assumptions are unfounded because the records show that the utilisation of the allocations for operating expenses and emoluments was at 96% and development expenditure was at 90%,” Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said.

He pointed out that the Pakatan Harapan-led government recorded a revenue of RM1.09 bil last year, exceeding its target of RM1.03 bil.

This was RM63.9 mil more than the revenue recorded in 2018, with one of the main contributors being the Perak Land and Mines Department.

“The land revenue collection in 2019 was RM688.7 mil, and this resulted in the state government having a surplus of RM52.33 mil at the end of the year, up from the RM50.11 mil recorded in 2018,” he said when delivering the new year mandate to state civil servants here.

“This year, the state government has allocated RM430 mil to implement development projects compared to RM400 mil in 2019 – the highest amount that has been allocated in the past five years,” he added. – Jan 21, 2020, Bernama
