Auditor-General Datuk Nik Azman Nik Abdul Majid had been tested positive for Covid-19 and is under quarantine at a hospital as of yesterday (May 21), according to an internal memo sighted by FocusM.

“To ensure that tasks at the National Audit Department continue efficiently and effectively, the Deputy Auditor-General (Performance) will assume the duties of the Auditor-General,” Nik Azman said yesterday. He signed off on the memo at 8.38 pm.

It is understood that Nik Azman is the officer referenced in today’s statement by the Prime Minister’s Office who tested positive for the coronavirus and attended the post-Cabinet meeting on Wednesday (May 20).

PMO said that Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has tested negative for Covid-19 and is on mandatory self-isolation for 14 days from this evening.

“All members of the meeting have also been ordered to get tested and undergo self-isolation at their own homes for 14 days starting today,” PMO said.

Muhyiddin’s office also assured that all meetings practised social distancing and implemented strict hygiene measures at all times. – May 22, 2020
