KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government can help assist various industries affected by the current economic situation resolve the problems encountered that fall under the state’s jurisdiction, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said.

He said however, some industrial matters come under the federal’s jurisdiction that need the federal government’s consideration and decision.

“Hence, it is important to have meetings with various associations and bodies in the sectors as there may be issues arising under the jurisdiction of the state government that we can address.

“But there are also matters arising that call for the federal government’s decision and consideration, so we need to communicate with them,” he told reporters after chairing a meeting with chambers of commerce, cement suppliers and quarry operators at the Sabah State Administrative Centre, here today.

Mohd Shafie, who is also state finance minister, said the Sabah government would identify the problems faced by industry players to render assistance to them by developing several initiatives to fuel Sabah’s economic growth.

“The state government will play its role and cooperate with the private sector as an initiative to create employment opportunities,” he said. – Feb 12, 2020, Bernama.
