Consistent buying push Bursa to close higher

BURSA Malaysia ended higher today amid consistent buying momentum and in line with most regional markets.

The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) advanced 9.42 points to finish at 1,644.41 after moving between 1,631.77 and 1,645.31 throughout the day.

The index opened 0.61 of-a-point higher at 1,635.93 compared to Tuesday’s close of 1,634.99.

The overall market breadth was positive with gainers outpacing losers 656 to 507, while 465 counters were unchanged, 500 untraded and 62 others suspended.

Total volume decreased to 7.82 billion units worth RM3.65 bil from Tuesday’s 9.17 billion units worth RM4.22 bil.

As for heavyweights, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd jumped 13 sen to RM7.50, Top Glove Corp Bhd appreciated 11 sen to RM6.12, CIMB Group Holdings Bhd gained three sen to RM4.38, Hartalega Holdings Bhd soared 26 sen to RM12.20, while Public Bank Bhd was flat at RM20.70, Malayan Banking Bhd eased one sen to RM8.57, Tenaga Nasional Bhd declined six sen to RM10.52, and IHH Healthcare Bhd fell three sen to RM4.38.      

Among the actives, Sealink International Bhd rose 2.5 sen to 19.5 sen, Pegasus Heights Bhd inched up half-a-sen to three sen, MTouche Technology Bhd and Parkson Holdings Bhd were one sen higher at eight sen and 20.5 sen, respectively.

Meanwhile, Iris Corporation Bhd was flat at 43.5 sen and AT Systematization Bhd and Techna-X Bhd shed one sen to 18.5 sen and 16 sen, respectively.

On the index board, the FBM 70 climbed 24.83 points to 15,248.76, the FBM Emas Index was 62.49 points higher at 11,869.18, the FBMT 100 Index expanded 54.51 points to 11,613.17, while the FBM Emas Shariah Index improved 96.61 points to 13,275.15.  

The Industrial Products and Services Index went up 2.87 points to 178.92, the Plantation Index bagged 18.68 points to 7,412.81 and the Financial Services Index strengthened 23.18 points to 15,476.59. – Dec 30, 2020
