COVID-19: Infections nears 4k mark today, with 22 fatalities

AS the nationwide movement control order (MCO 3.0) is set to kick in tomorrow, Malaysia recorded 3,973 cases today, bringing the cumulative total to 448,457.

In a joint press conference with Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 2,848 patients have been cured, with the total discharged now stands at 408,236.

“Twenty-two people have died today, bringing the death tally to 1,722,” he added.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases again (1,328), followed by Sarawak (512), Kuala Lumpur (483) and Johor (384).

“Of the current active cases, 453 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 224 of them in need of ventilator support,” he remarked. – May 11, 2021.
