COVID-19: 594 active clusters nationwide, new cases above 2k mark

THE Health Ministry has reported 2,232 COVID-19 cases and four deaths in the past 24 hours.

In a tweet today, Health Ministry’s director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also said that there were 1,006 recoveries, bringing the total number of those recovered to 109,115.

“The total number of infections now stands at 138,224. Unfortunately, four people have lost their lives, bringing the total number of fatalities to 555,” he said.

Three of the deceased were locals and the other foreigner. The locals suffered from pre-existing conditions.

On related matter, Noor Hisham announced that eight new clusters have been discovered in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of active clusters to 594.

The eight clusters are Jalan Keluli (Johor), Medan Idaman (Kuala Lumpur), Jelita (Sarawak), Kampung Renok (Kelantan), Kampung Getting (Kelantan), Lumut Barat (Perak) and Kubang Bujuk (Terengganu).

“A total of 336 clusters have ended, including four which are Jalan Kemang, Taman Bunga, Damar Laut and Awan Baru construction site,” he added. – Jan 11, 2021.
