Creador partners Bursa to help M’sians build confidence in stocks investing

MANY Malaysians are interested in investing. Based on a recent survey conducted by Creador Foundation, the private equity arm of Creador Sdn Bhd, 25% of the over 1,000 respondents said their top financial goal for 2021 is to invest to grow their money.

However, many Malaysians also hold back from investing because they are not sure where to start or are afraid of losing money. Creador’s survey also found that 25% of its respondents’ main worry for the year is where to invest given the current low interest rates.

Realising this, financial literacy champion Multiply (an initiative by Creador Foundation) is working with Bursa Malaysia Bhd to help Malaysians understand the fundamentals of investing in the stock market and to kick-start their journey into stock market investing.

The collaboration aims to help Malaysians improve their decision-making to make informed decisions on investments.

“We’re working with Bursa Malaysia to run fun and interactive activities that help Malaysians understand how stock investing works and how to make sensible investment decisions so they can build their confidence to invest in stocks,” Creador Foundation’s senior programme manager Dr Shobana Sivanendran pointed out.

Multiply is a financial literacy initiative aimed at providing Malaysians with free and trusted personal finance education. Multiply’s free and easy-to-use tools, tips and guidance are intended to help the average Malaysian navigate all of life’s major financial milestones and decisions.

“At Bursa Malaysia, ensuring that retail investors are financially literate is an essential first step toward sustaining retail trading activities,” asserted Bursa Malaysia’s director of Securities Market Azhar Zabidi.

“To achieve this, we collaborate with our chosen partners to organise various events and campaigns that help improve awareness of stock market investing through platforms such as Bursa Marketplace.”

He also explained that these activities provide investors with the tools and the necessary foundation to enable them to make informed decisions when they invest, thus ensuring a sustainable market in the long-term.

As part of its collaboration, Multiply and Bursa Malaysia have launched the My Market Contest to promote the My Market feature on Bursa Marketplace.

The My Market Contest is made up of four quests that participants strive to complete. The first 42 participants to complete the quests will stand a chance to win Bursa Marketplace 500GB hard drives and Samsung Galaxy tablets.

Participants will be divided into two categories: existing Bursa Marketplace users and new users. To find out more about the MyMarket Content and to participate, visit the contest page from now until July 4. – May 12, 2021
