Tailor-made motorbike programmes by NWP for food delivery riders

THE delivery sector especially food delivery has benefitted from the COVID-19 pandemic. When the movement control order (MCO) which was first imposed back in March 2020, major food delivery companies saw their orders increased significantly.

Thus, there’s always a demand for riders. In fact, the MCO saw more people turning into delivery men to generate income to sustain their livelihood.

Having more riders on board means a growth in demand for motorbikes. Seeing this as opportunity for new revenue stream, NWP Holdings Bhd has made a foray into the motorbike business by targeting prospective and existing riders for GrabFood, a leading food delivery platform in Malaysia.

The timber group plans to offer special motorbike programmes that have been tailor-made exclusively for GrabFood’s riders. The benefits under the programmes include competitive pricing as well as zero down payment for the motorbikes if purchasers meet the stipulated conditions.

“This programme would substantially lower the financial barriers for prospective food delivery riders and encourage higher levels of participation in the food delivery services industry which is currently experiencing a significant boom in demand due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” NWP’s head of group operation Teoh Peak Swee pointed out.

Besides that, NWP is also setting up a new sales gallery and service centre which sits on 15,000 sq ft of land with a built-up area of 9,100 sq ft in Petaling Jaya. Slated to open next month, the sales gallery will feature a wide selection of motorbikes.

In addition, it also offers after-sales support services as well as sale of motorbike parts and accessories. The centre will have a dedicated and spacious self-service café for riders as well to take a quick break and rest in between their delivery duties. – Jan 26, 2021
