Madani @ McD: Group shows boycotting is one option for M’sians

WITH the recent rise in vandalism against some foreign brands subjected to a massive boycott campaign in the wake of the Israeli war in Gaza, a group of Malaysians decided to visit a McDonald’s branch in Puchong to tell locals that boycotting or supporting the brand is an individual choice.

Some of the diners were dressed in robes and skull caps and sat at the branch of the fast-food brand for a peaceful dinner.

The group’s spokesperson Omar Mohamed told a local news portal that while there are groups that want to continue the campaign, there are options for others who want to make chain restaurants like McDonald’s a safe place to dine while spending time with family or friends.

“For us, restaurants like McDonald’s and KFC have quite a lot of services for Malaysians, including from their community programmes.

“So what’s wrong with us taking it from that angle to give a positive perspective to the company?

“And more importantly, we try to highlight a good reciprocal relationship between food providers and customers so that we can all live in harmony,” he said. – April 21, 2024
