Penang lawyer offers 8 reasons why Chinese, Indian electorate in KKB must vote PN candidate

Letter to editor

I CALL upon the Chinese and the Indian voters in Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) to vote for the Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Khairul Azhari Saut in the state by-election slated for May 11.

My justification is as follows:

Reason #1

Despite UMNO, PKR and Amanah working together, the Malay voters – more likely than not – will back the PN candidate. It is high time for the Chinese and the Indians to back the very candidate that is going to receive the majority support from the majority race.

Enough of the racial separation since 2008.

Reason #2

What did the Chinese and the Indians get by voting Pakatan Harapan (PH)? Surely, DSAI (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) has become the Prime Minister. Then what? Nothing!

And you know why? Because even the PM of the country cannot afford to ignore the interests of the Malays even though the majority of them did not support him and his coalition.

Reason #3

Remember that there is nothing DSAI can or will do for the non-Malays if his action may cause unhappiness among the Malays.

And if you question him, his classic reply shall be “please don’t be jealous or angry if l give things to the Malays and not to you”.

Reason #4

You must have heard or read news that so many KFC outlets are closing down due to the boycott by Malays. Now, KFC is obviously owned by Malaysian individuals and corporations with the majority of its employees being Malays.

Yet, when the Malays came together and decided to launch a boycott, even the mighty KFC falls.

Reason #5

In short, the Malays have the power in this country because they have the numbers. So, when the government of the day and corporations do not have the liberty to go against the Malays, why must you?

Reason #6

You may ask, what happens if PN comes to power? Will the Chinese and the Indians then get additional privileges? May be or may be not but at least the Malays and the non-Malays will be on the same side.

Check the history; the non-Malays have always benefitted by being on the same side with the Malays. The best example is the creation of vernacular schools ever since UNNO was holding the absolute power.

You think DAP/PH could have created these schools now? Dream on! They can’t even give the due recognition to UEC (Unified Examination Certificate) examination as per their promises!

Reason #7

The Chinese and the Indians can vote whoever they want or whoever can become the PM but ultimately the Malays will rule this country, and that whoever becoming PM will have no choice but to put the Malay interest first even if he became the PM with the majority support of the non-Malays.

This is the ground reality of Malaysian politics.

Reason #8

Therefore, common sense dictates that it is better to work with the Malays – and pray that the government will help you – than to work against the Malays with the eventuality of the government not helping you. – May 3, 2024
