AS countries continue to race against each other to become the most modern, technologically advanced nation, it is inevitable for them to build taller, more impressive skyscrapers as symbols of their prowess.
However, it would seem that one country is going against the grain.
Oman, a country on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia has decided to embrace its tradition and culture instead to promote tourism.
This policy came to light in a video by netizen Ikhwan who said that Oman does not possess any tall buildings although it is among the richest countries in the world.

Ikhwan claimed that Oman once said in a statement that the end of the world will not happen until humans start racing to make their buildings taller and taller.
According to netizen Shafiq Omar, he lived there for two years. He added that the food and car was cheap and there was also a lack of traffic jams.
Shafiq Omar also said Oman presented many interesting places for his family to visit.
Delina Meliora clarified that there were no tall buildings to be seen there, having visited Oman last year. The place was beautiful and clean while the people were polite to outsiders.
She added that the rich were ultra rich, possessing homes near the marina. During the afternoon, they would indulge in jetskiing.
Another netizen pointed out the work life balance enjoyed by the people of Oman which was amazing.
Reading through all the comments, we already have our next holiday destination in mind, unless of course the Ringgit depreciates against the Omani Rial. – Oct 11, 2024
