ONE of the joys of travelling is to experience the different culture and way of life of the people from different countries.
Whether it be fine dining, impressive architecture or picture perfect scenery, every country has their own unique riches.
But with such diversity, how can one choose? Interestingly, a Malay tourist to Turkey chose instead to showcase the garbage disposal system there.
In a video posted on X by netizen amighul deghaman, the dustbins could be seen firmly embedded underground, being huge rectangular metal blocks.
Unik betul lori sampah dekat Turki ni. Rasa-rasa boleh apply tak cara macamni dekat Malaysia? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/yQ6QsPrpEe

No elaboration was made regarding the design, but looking at it, one could tell that the stench should be reduced at the depth in which it was inserted.
Interestingly, the garbage truck in Turkey was unlike the one in Malaysia, with a crane-like arm that lifted the dustbins out by their heads to be emptied before being returned into their respective slots.
However, Malaysian netizens were unimpressed by the technology utilised for the garbage disposal.
Many criticised it, saying that the system was cumbersome and that the garbage fluids were flowing out high up in the air.
One netizen said this was similar to the system in the Netherlands. He added that Malaysia could give it a try since garbage is always coming out of the dustbin.
Running Bob, however, claimed such a disposal system is already available in Johor.
Another netizen chipped in, saying that the system has also been implemented in the town of Penawar.
Netizen arietaj said that if this was applied in Malaysia, it would take two working days. Even then, only one housing estate would be cleared by then.
Nasz claimed the gold standard for garbage disposal was when the garbage fluids do not drip out.
In hindsight, the garbage disposal system appears impressive. But when we factor in the aspect of efficiency, speed and cost, the traditional garbage truck and garbage collector still holds the upper hand. – Oct 15, 2024
