Every police officer needs a break once in a while, crime fighting being a tough business.
But if that break involves gambling, an activity the officers themselves were supposed to curb, then it is the equivalent to the charming Malay proverb, “Diharapkan pagar, pagar makan padi.”
It can be crudely translated as placing one’s hope on the fence to watch the padi field, but it was the fence that eats the padi. The meaning is clear.
In a post on X that has since garnered a sizable following, netizen 𝕏-₮ⱤłǤǤɆⱤ ₩₳Ɽ₦ł₦Ǥ shared the uncensored faces of several police officers gambling their leisure time away on their handphones.
🗣️Ketika bertugas boleh main judi online siap dengan uniform lagi ⁉️

“While working, they can play online gambling complete with uniforms. These people are recently involved in a case where they took the money of prisoners who just went into jail but the case has been closed by the Malaysian Prison Department,” he claimed.
Netizen karipap wondered if they were from Kelantan, having noted the Budu in a bottle at the table.
Another netizen has helpfully magnified the photo.
On a separate note, the Budu is a type of pickle made using anchovies. It is a popular traditional food in Malaysia originating from Kelantan. Perhaps this is the reasoning behind karipap’s conjecture.
“Whatever case in the prison, everything will be hushed. Are there any case where the prisoner is being abused is spread out? Won’t happen. The warden gang are very tight at covering it up. There is no need to dig for information because they will not give any explanation,” said a cynical netizen by the name of Let’s get it on.
A. Imran also claimed that many uniformed officers have now become habitual gamblers. This is an open secret.
“Those of you who want to get married, check the handphone of your boyfriend. These habitual gamblers are the hardest to cure. Think before it is too late,” A. Imran cautioned.
A sharp-sighted netizen by the name of Aizen further listed out the offences committed by the officers mentioned.
1/ Smoking smuggled cigarettes
2/ Gambling online
Aizen, however, voiced his scepticism on why these people are unaware when their photos were taken.
But apparently, online gambling is not confined to police officers. One netizen said he has seen teachers in the past indulging in it.
“In the beginning, these things are free to play. Sooner or later, they will invest their own money into it. The concept is similar with other games, but with gambling, it is worst,” said ピップじゃない. —Nov 10, 2024
